The first first week of April 2022 was a great experience for 60 participants from six countries across Europe: UK, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, and Italy, that came together in London, UK to participate in a Youth exchange ‘Gender in the Media’ implemented under the Erasmus+ Programme.
The project was focused on encouraging young people, especially those coming from rural areas, to
advocate for gender equality through the use of media and by raising awareness on how they can better report, showcase and promote gender equality. The project was tackling gender as an equality issue with positive approach in order to diminish the negative stereotypes and discrimination related to sex and/or gender.
For that reason, the participants took part in various interactive presentations, creative workshops like simultane TEDx talks, outdoor activities, role plays, open discussions and debates in order to explore new challenges, gain knowledge about gender equality and how genders are portrayed in the media.
The participants created short videos in order to show and vote on Oscar Night. The movies running for the prize were ‘’Wanted, The Interview, Life Of Kay, The Wizard of Gerrards Cross and Jamie’’.
